Funerals are a time of grief, but also of great hope in the promise of Christ's Resurrection. At St. Luke we work with families who have experienced the loss of a loved one to provide care and guidance in preparing for the funeral liturgy. If you have experienced a loss and would like to schedule a funeral at St. Luke, please contact the parish office at (317) 259-4373 to speak with a priest or the Pastoral Associate.
Though funerals take priority over most parish functions, there are certain days or times on which it may not be possible to hold a funeral, such as specific Feast Days, during other liturgies, on Sundays, or celebrations of other Sacraments. Please contact the parish office for more information on what those times might be.
In addition to holding Liturgy, St. Luke provides the opportunity to hold viewings in the Fr. Courtney Room before the funeral. If you are interested in holding a viewing at St. Luke, please mention this when speaking with a parish staff member.
Parishioners of St. Luke also express their care and concern through the Good Samaritan ministry which provides meals for other parishioners when the funeral of a loved one takes place at the parish. To receive more information about this ministry to the bereaved, please contact our Pastoral Associate.
Sometimes individuals or families wish to plan a funeral in advance in order to lighten the burden of grief. St. Luke provides the opportunity for individuals or families to do this. For information and assistance for pre-planning please contact Erin Jeffries at 317-259-4373 ext. 218.
