Lead Maintenance Engineer Position objectives

The Lead Maintenance Engineer is responsible for assisting the Parish Manager by overseeing the work of maintenance staff and outside vendors to ensure safe and efficient operations of the facility. This person is required to perform maintenance duties himself/herself as needed. Performing maintenance duties encompasses approximately 80% of work time.

Collaborates with members of the Administrative Staff, the Pastoral Staff, and other groups and individuals as needed.

Duties and Responsibilities

  1. Assists in the management of maintenance personnel and vendors by:
    1. Acting as the liaison between the parish and selected service vendors;
    2. Ordering materials and approving material vouchers for payment for maintenance and janitorial items;
    3. Maintaining an inventory of equipment and supplies, as needed, to complete the necessary maintenance and janitorial duties of the department; and
    4. Other tasks as assigned by the Parish Manager.
  2. Effectively cares for the physical resources of Saint Luke Catholic Church by:
    1. Set up rooms for various parish functions.
    2. Clean bathrooms, Narthex, and other areas, as assigned.
    3. Keep building exterior clean of debris.
    4. Handle snow removal of sidewalks and coordinate with plowing service.
    5. Complete work orders for various cleaning and repair items.
  3. Completes other assigned tasks of this position, as requested

Qualifications

Education

  1. High School degree required

A minimum of 2 years of general maintenance experience is required for the maintenance supervisor position. Previous experience supervising employees and/or outside vendors is also desirable, but not required.

Experience troubleshooting and correcting electrical or mechanical problems, maintaining inventory levels and scheduling work is also required.

Computer skills utilizing standard word processing programs, preferably including:

  1. Microsoft Office
  2. Mac OS X

Ability to learn and effectively use the computerized work order and HVAC system.

Should be organized and possess a professional demeanor.

Working conditions

The maintenance supervisor position requires an individual who enjoys the challenge of troubleshooting and correcting mechanical and electrical issues and someone who is willing to work when and where needed when emergency maintenance activities are required. That might entail working evenings or weekends and in inclement weather

This position requires someone who works well on his own and can identify and respond to issues that need correcting. A strong customer focus and the desire to provide a high level of service are also key elements to success in this position.

  4. trash removal, including moving trash cans and emptying trash into outdoor dumpster; and
  5. ability to kneel, bend, stand to perform maintenance tasks.

Provide janitorial and light maintenance support for St. Luke Catholic Church as part of the Maintenance Department. Reports to the Maintenance Supervisor and the Parish Manager in terms of overall responsibilities. Must be able to work weekends

 

Position Responsibilities

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.   1. Set up rooms for various parish functions.
