Music Ministry at St. Luke Catholic Church
Many people find different ways to celebrate the liturgy, Mass. Music is a personal way to offer your talents and thank the Lord for the gifts you have received. We have many opportunities at St. Luke Catholic Church for you to participate, celebrate and praise God. Soli Deo Gloria: Thanks be to God.
Adult Choir ~
Our Adult Choir sings throughout the year from September through May (Memorial Day) at the 11:30am Sunday Mass. Rehearsals are regularly each Thursday from 7-9pm in church.
Cantors ~
Cantors proclaim the word of God as psalmist. Liturgical music and hymns are sung by the cantor, accompanied by musicians in order to engage the congregation’s sung prayer.
Celebration Bells Choir ~
We have a handbell choir that plays during special Liturgies such as Christ the King, Christmas, and Easter. Practices are Fridays from Noon until 1:30pm.
Children’s Choir ~
St. Luke’s Children’s Choir learn to praise God in song and find joy in music. The children take part as the leaders of song for All School Masses regularly scheduled on Fridays when school is in session. Practices are Thursdays, 3-4 PM, from October through Easter.
Ensemble Choir ~
Musicians and singers offer regular hymns and liturgical music accompanied by flute, guitar, piano, soprano sax and various instruments that celebrate the liturgy with a contemporary style. Join in a rehearsal Wednesday evening from 7-9pm.
St. Cecilia Choir ~
This choir sings for the funeral mass of our parishioners. Funeral Liturgies are typically scheduled for mornings or early afternoons. Practice occurs 1-2 times a year.
Instrumentalists ~
The opportunity for musicians of the parish is there to participate at liturgies, but not necessarily every week. We help musicians find time to participate, practice and join in our ensemble, or special Christmas and Holy Week / Easter liturgies.
School Singers ~
The St. Gregory Choir is comprised of students that volunteered to sing when the younger grades are hosting the All School Mass. Please contact Lora Dorton-Cheney in our parish school if your student is interested in becoming part of this group.
