Baptism

Baptism is God's most beautiful and magnificent gift. . . .We call it gift, grace, anointing, enlightenment, garment of immortality, bath of rebirth, seal, and most precious gift. It is called gift because it is conferred on those who bring nothing of their own; grace since it is given even to the guilty; Baptism because sin is buried in the water; anointing for it is priestly and royal as are those who are anointed; enlightenment because it radiates light; clothing since it veils our shame; bath because it washes; and seal as it is our guard and the sign of God's Lordship. (Catechism of the Catholic Church, 1216).
These are our date for Baptism Preparation Classes for calendar 2008 through June 2009. All classes are on Sundays, beginning at 10:10 a.m. Classes are one hour in length Classes meet in the Father Courtney Reception Room (unless moved—sign will be posted) No pre-registration, so walk-ins are most welcome!
You must call our parish secretary, Barbara McDermott, to schedule your baby’s baptism. These dates are given to help you plan, but all baptisms must be scheduled by the office. Baptisms are held after the 11:30 am Sunday Mass (beginning around 12:30 pm). Baptisms may also be held during Mass if you choose—talk with the pastor if you like this option! If you need another time for your baby’s baptism, please call the pastor for available options.
These are the guidelines for baptisms at St. Luke Catholic Church.
