Welcome to the Journey that is the RCIA!
Thank you for your interest in St. Luke’s Rite of Christian Initiation for Adults (RCIA). This is a parish-sponsored process through which we encourage inquiry and welcome new members into our Roman Catholic Faith community. This is the first step in a journey that will continue throughout the rest of your life. We commend you for the courage to look for answers to the questions that God has placed in all of our hearts – the desire to seek and learn to know Him.
Whatever your answer to the question, “Why am I here?” the point is, you have arrived at this place in your life. Open your heart and be willing to listen to God who is within. It has been said that the greatest gift of all gifts is the gift of love. We would like to share with you our Faith in the hope that it will begin or enhance your experience of the love of God. The parish of St. Luke is pleased to be part of your journey.
Since RCIA is a journey and a process, you may take as long as you wish to determine your own time line. There are four steps in the RCIA process that prepare you for the rest of the journey.
This is a time to question, become more aware of God's presence and share the experiences. Whatever your answer to the question, "Why am I here?" the point is, you have arrived at this place in your life. Open your heart and be willing to listen to God who is within.
It has been said that the greatest gift of all gifts is the gift of love. We would like to share with you our Faith in the hope that it will begin or enhance your experience of the love of God. The parish of St. Luke is pleased to be part of your journey.
Basic Catholic teachings followed by small group discussion are offered each week. A St. Luke parishioner will be assigned as a mentor. You also may bring a companion if you wish. Attendance at Mass is enhanced each week by Scripture-based discussion and faith sharing.
For those who decide to continue on toward full acceptance in the Church, this offers time for personal reflection and spiritual preparation for reception of the Sacraments of Intiation.
This process is a serious commitment to Christian life and demands responsibility and sacrifice. Commitment requires understanding, which in turns relies on openness to the process. Regular attendance is necessary for the journey to attain its fullest potential.
