2011 Grants Announced

The Saint Luke Christian Social Action Commission is pleased to announce seven grant recipients for 2011-12. This year’s recipients are:

  • Baskets of Hope
  • Caritas Camaguey, Cuba
  • Cathedral Soup Kitchen
  • HETO (Heart in Education Teacher Outreach
  • Neighborhood Christian Legal Clinic
  • Recycle Force, LLC
  • South Central Education Special Education Co-Op


With these grants, Saint Luke has given over $65,500 in funding since the endowment’s first grants in 2005.

Christian Social Action Endowment

The Christian Social Action Endowment for Saint Luke Catholic Church was established by the Legacy of Hope to fund Christian Social Action initiatives at the parish, national, and international levels. Up to five percent of the endowment fund is given each year in grants to various program.

Endowment Grant Criteria

  • Grants generally will be made in $500 and $1000 increments.
  • Projects should be consistent with the goals of Catholic Social Teaching.
  • Grants shall be used to provide seed money for new projects or financial support of existing projects which have significant social impact.
  • No grants shall be made to the same organization/project for two consecutive years, unless part of a multi-year grant.
  • Ideally, at least one grant is given annually in each of the following focus areas: parish, nation, international community.
