One of our 2006 Grants was to Sister Shirley Gerth at St. Anne Catholic Church in New Castle. Sister Shirley has a prison ministry at the New Castle Correctional Facilities. Following is a letter sent by Sister in mid-May.

As you may well know, much has occurred here at St. Anne Parish since we received the grant of $1,000 to provide clothing at the New Castle Correctional Facilities. I am happy to say that we used some of the money for new clothes and had them store in our parish center, so they were not destroyed by the church fire. All of our used clothes were destroyed. We also used a portion of the money for Catholic Bibles, scapulars, rosaries, and prayer books. Our ministry has increased greatly with the arrival of the Arizona inmates. WIthout your grant, we could not have responded to all the requests for religious articles.

Presently, we are conducting eight services at the facility each month. The inmates are most grateful. Please continue to remember us and them in your prayers. There is still much unrest at the facility.

Once again, I write those sacred words "thank you" for the grant sent to us last fall.

Peace and All Good,
Sister Shirley Gerth
