This past year, the parish parking lot and church sound system were the prime capital improvements, although there were other major items completed as well.
Parking Lot
As fiscal 2008-2009 drew to a close, our South, East, and West Parking lots were resurfaced at a cost of $114,935.
Church Sound System
After a lengthy review process, ESCO Communications was awarded the bid to replace the audio system in our church at a cost of $69,544. Due to the more favorable sound engineering of the Renkus-Heinz system, the Buildings and Grounds Committee recommended their speaker "arrays." The speakers are called "arrays" because each "box" actually contains multiple speakers, with separate amplifiers for each speaker. In our application, there are three (3) separate locations for the installation, totaling 56 individual speakers. Those locations are at the east side of the church on the wall adjacent to the choir area; the wall behind the ambo, near the organ; and the wall behind the statue of Mary. This project also includes a major addition to our capabilities with an Assisted Listening System for those who have hearing aids.
Other Projects
During the past year, we also used ESCO Communications to improve the sound system in the South Gym with the addition of two (2) curved line array speaker systems with a power amplifier, at an expense of $13,975.
We also improved the gym by purchasing and installing a new stage curtain at a cost of $4,183 from Indianapolis Stage Curtains and Rentals.
Finally, we corrected a long-standing humidity problem in the church itself by installing two Desert AireTM de-humidifiers after completely encapsulating all entry points for moisture in the HVAC system. This work, done by Irish Mechanical, Inc., was funded by the Legacy for Our Mission donations and cost $28,900.
We appreciate the generosity of our parishioners that made all this work possible.
